The book contains a wealth of information on fusion fundamentals and how it can be used to generate clean, abundant electric power. It is reasonably easy to follow and provides insights into an -for many people, at least- esoteric field of physics.

Having put solar PV in a number of premises i own, i have a keen interest in the concept of green power. Solar may be tinkering at the edges in the wider picture of our planet's insatiable thirst for power, but it does help us as individuals to react locally to an international problem.

This is a jewel of a book! It is written in a sober manner by one of the experts in the field, with a research career spanning many decades and the whole of the magnetic confinement fusion energy program, who still has managed to keep his enthusiasm alive for the field and is deeply aware of the cost we'll have to pay if commercial fusion energy is not realized in the next decades.
